Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Soldiers Table

From the very beginning of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a diverse cast of heroes, and a gripping narrative featuring divine entities, fiends, and sinister influences growing in power within the city.

Warning: Key plot points for the latest installment of this adventure lie ahead.

The Warrior Group Revealed

The third episode concluded with a huge suspense moment and revealed the premier party of adventurers who will branch out from the main group to embark on their own adventure, apart from the remaining groups.

The combat-focused team includes the determined fighter (played by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).

Why Split the Party?

Considering a large ensemble, it was obvious from the outset that having everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.

This explains, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Prelude, intertwining the characters’ stories before branching into three distinct groups: Fighters, Schemers, and Questers.

The Nature of the Warrior Group

Per the DM, the warrior group is for adventurers who enjoy a classically intense fight-heavy gameplay experience where diplomatic options are scarce.

Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might seem out of place, but the events of episode 3 make it clear why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the combat party.

Motivations for Departure

To begin with, the group understands precisely where to proceed after a brutal first encounter with The Crow Keepers.

Casimir of Thjazi—whose demise kicked off the story’s plot—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his own means, breaking into the secret base, assaulting the character, and swiping all the powerful objects to sell off.

The antagonist then settled his liabilities and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, above Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother close behind.

Personal Motivations

Additionally, each adventurer has a specific drive to depart the metropolitan area:

  • Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, desires retribution.
  • The knowledgeable figure knows the northern area and advises that it is a dangerous location.
  • The warrior and The cleric, having disobeyed his house’s orders to eliminate Teor and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
  • Yet, their position as key figures in House Halovar could assist the party access places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Additionally, The fighter pledged a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his rescue and will now go with him wherever.

Fugitives

Lastly, all of them are sought by the powers that rule Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making lingering locally too risky:

  • Thimble and The character are notorious outlaws.
  • The warrior and Wicander defied House Halovar and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
  • The fighter is marked for death by the family.

This means them few options but to travel to the remote area in search of the traitor.

What’s Next?

According to the recent installment’s Cooldown, we discover that the combat party will be absent next week, leaving the remaining eight players to assemble the Explorers and Strategists groups.
